So we finally released ROOKIES Special along with this batch torrent. The reason really why the Special was very much delayed is that it really really sucked that only 5mins or so is the new material if you watched the rest of the series - making most of the staff involved not really interested to work on it. Basically, it's a complete rehash of what happened in the Nikogaku team using past scenes you've already watched in previous eps.
In accordance to that, SkewedS and TimeLesSub decided that we won't be releasing softsubs of the special. Don't worry, you don't lose anything at all, really
For completists, download the 2 hour drama special and maybe just watch the last 5mins or so of the video
If you also noticed, the resolution of the special is somewhat different from the series - this is to prepare for the upcoming movie which hopefully we'll sub soon once the dvd is available
If you also noticed, some if not most of the scenes in the original series, the translations were changed in the Special - that goes also for the romanizations of the names. Being now mostly the translator of the series, I, zeldAIS, highly prefer the romanizations of the names will be that way and will also be like that for the upcoming movie.
I'll be honest, even though mostly agree that the special is a rehash, the special was a good review of how incredible this incarnation of the great manga done by Morita Masanori. For those who are just starting to get into this drama - let me tell you that this JDrama series won
Best Drama, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Theme Song and Special Award in the 58th Television Drama Academy Awards and also awarded in the 13th Asian Television Award as Highly Commended in the Best Drama Series Category. I honestly didn't expected it to won these many awards as my main reason when the drama was announced that I wanted the drama to be subbed because I f*ck*ng LOVE the manga XD
I suggest go read it if you're into mangas and give it a try - Morita Masanori became known in this manga as it was published also in Shounen Jump (though he also became known for his first series, Rokudenshi Blues (which i got the vhs anime oav somewhere)). Though if you come to SkewedS site for tokusatsu's and really have an open mind for JDramas or want to get into it, this is a drama for you - Kamen Rider Den-O and Ultraman Mebius are regulars of this series adding the fact that MagiYellow, DekaBlue, Kamen Rider Leangle, ShinkenPink and father of Keita (Keitai Sousakan 7) also appeared in the series (and the movie will also star Kamen Rider Sasword).
